As we look ahead to 2030 and beyond, we’ve made deep commitments to nine key areas of focus. Three of those areas are:
- Leadership Development—identify the next generation of leaders, ensuring every employee at every level knows their path.
- Innovation & Technology—create an enterprise-wide plan that increases efficiency over the entire project life cycle.
- Lean Operations—improve cross-company collaboration while enhancing the builder experience.
To support these commitments, we’re excited to reintroduce the role of Director of Performance and Innovation—a role I held from 2019–22. It’s a position that’s already driven major organizational change, from the adoption of Lean methodology and healthcare best practices to our transition to Procore. Through these initiatives we’ve seen measurable gains in efficiency, cross-company collaboration, and partner value.
But this role isn’t about running programs. It’s about ensuring that continuous learning and innovation are part of everything we do. The director will have a direct impact on our ability to grow our people, enhance operational excellence, and extend our competitive advantage—by directly linking individual development with technological and process improvement.
I’d like to introduce Katie Prugh as our new DPI.

After a decade at Graham Construction, Katie joined Avista Utilities, where she recently led the Energy Project Delivery team with a focus on employee development, strategic alignment, and portfolio management. As manager of the Enterprise Project Management Office, she drove predictable, collaborative, and efficient capital project delivery—establishing preconstruction processes, strengthening cross-functional decision-making, and guiding investments to align with customer and operational goals. Known for building strong relationships, streamlining processes, and delivering meaningful results, Katie is a driven, thoughtful leader who inspires others and fosters continuous improvement.
Please join me in welcoming Katie to the Bouten team!
