In addition to three courtrooms, the Kootenai County Justice Building project added seventeen CMU block holding rooms with detention-grade doors and lavatories, as well as a separate elevator for inmate transportation. Equipped throughout the building are bullet-resistant assemblies (UL 752 Ballistic Level 1) and secure door access; the lowest level incorporates a drive-through sally port for inmate offloading and transfer. The project required re-routing existing sewer, power, and telecom; extending a sewer main; new fire and domestic water services; and integrating security systems with the existing justice building.
