Bouten was retained during the early project development phase to provide integrated preconstruction services, including budgeting, target value delivery cost estimating, schedule, and site logistic planning. In-depth planning with the hospital determined the most effective approach of minimizing construction impacts to the facility. From site and parking lot improvements, to upgrading major infrastructure components, to building adjacent to the ICU and imaging departments, there was a clear focus on protecting the patient care experience. Because a major portion of the project was funded through local philanthropy, Bouten worked with the hospital foundation to solicit gifts, coordinate hard hat tours, and provide regular progress updates to potential donors.
